The titles I would love to read this semester are:

Forgotten Books of Eden

            Straight to the point, the Bible barely talks about the garden, and I want to know more! I am very intrigued with the whole story of Adam and Eve.

From Sheppard Boy to King

            I am just curious about this take on the story of David. I have always enjoyed studying David, and never seem to get enough of him!

The whole Noah unit! (I freaking love Noah)

            I am so serious about reading the whole unit of Noah! Hands down one of the coolest and most powerful stories I have ever read!!

The Deer and the Rabbit

            I only chose this one because it is a Native American story. I spent the last year studying Native American stories, and I just find them really inventive and neat. All the Nations have some awesome cultures, and it is fascinating to learn about them all.

How the World was Made

            This is another Native American story lol, so the info above applies here to!

The Ranger

            The Ranger grabs my attention for two reasons: The first was because I have always been in love with archery. When I was a kid my imagination always took the form of be being a master archer lol. Also I grew up watching the animated version of Robin Hood, like I watched it so much the VCR tape quit working!

Storybook Favorites

These three stories I chose to write about really grabbed my attention! Mostly because I am a Christian, so it was easy for me to relate to all of them.

“The Gospels – Tales From Our Dads” was probably my favorite one in everyway. The page itself was easily read a navigated. The intro did a fantastic job setting up what it was all about, yet didn’t give it all away either, and giving great insight to the writers train of thought. The spin the writer took was telling the a few stories of Jesus through a father and son conversation! The dads were the four authors of the Gospels of Christ: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It was pretty neat to kind of get a child’s view of the stories!

“Abraham Who?” was the story about Abraham, through eyewitness accounts of a father and son travelling back in time and witnessing the events together. There didn’t really seem to be an intro though, the writer just kind of jump into it. There was some build up before the father and son traveled back in time to Abraham, but that was about it. The take on the story was cool, but I have already experienced biblical stories told like that, so for me personally it wasn’t as exiting as the other two. But still a great viewpoint especially if someone hasn’t read a story like that!

“The Children's Biblical Zoo” was too cool! It took biblical stories through the eyes of the animals involved!  I mean, I kind of want to read this to my nephew.  The Intro itself was good. It set up each story nicely and gave the readers a great idea of what they would be reading! The stories themselves were great and the design of the link, freaking awesome! The link had a ton of cute pictures of animals for children to enjoy.

The Fox and the Lion

There was once a fox that lived in the Midwest and never had a worry in the world. He was loved by the hunters and was at the top of the food chain. By his own definition, he was untouchable. One day while the fox was out walking through the woods, a group of traveling hunters captured him and sold him to the highest bidder. The fox ended up being shipped to an African zoo, and boy did he hate it!

He stated planning his escape the day he was there. The fox ended up making friends with a worker there, and tricked the man to release him. The fox was very pleased with himself and his accomplishments; however, he quickly realized the area he was in, was nothing like that of his home. He was no longer the alpha animal.

There were so many bigger and scarier animals. The fox was very nice, and he used that to his advantage. One day at the watering whole, he saw a huge rhino. The fox “if I could make friends with that guy, I would be on top again with his help.” The fox made friends with the rhino, and it was a very beneficial friendship for the fox!

The rhino taught the fox everything about Africa, what to do or what not to do, what to avoid or what to befriend. The biggest points the rhino made were, to never get to comfortable cause that is when the danger strikes, and beware of the lions. The lions were the top of the food chain, and they got there by their viciousness. The fox took those things to heart, until the day he crossed at lion.

At first he ran when he saw the beast, but once he stopped he began to think. “Is their rep really true, that lion didn’t even chase me?” “Maybe rhino only thought that because he has never encountered one!” The fox snuck his way back to the lion and watched him. The lion just laid there yawning the whole time. “This creature can’t be that vicious!” The fox decided to introduce himself to the lion. “Hi, I a

I haven’t seen my friend in days! Where could he be? I bet he found his way home, good for him. Now he is happy!” said the rhino.

Author's Note: This story was pulled from the fable "The Fox and the Lion". The fable was pulled from Aesop Illustrated by Milo Winter (2006). The story is about a fox encountering a lion and growing accustom to the lion. The fox was scared the first time and fled immediately, the second time the fox hid behind and tree to watch from a distance, and the final time the fox went straight up to the lion. The story ends with the fox saying hi to the lion, thus leaving the ending open (although I feel the authors intent was probably the negative ending). I left my original story somewhat open as well; one person can assume either good or bad news, which is up to interpretation, but the negative is hinted at harder. This story reminded me of the movie Madagascar a bit. That is the movie that involves zoo animals escaping and ending up in the wild. They learn how to survive not being in captivity. I wanted my fox to have a somewhat similar issue. I wanted the fox to have to adjust, and to experience how adapting feels and looks. Image is from this link.

Introduction

My name is Cameron Lohman, and I am a junior majoring in Health and Exercise Science. I am hoping to get into Physical Therapy school after my undergraduate degree.

I am from Duke, OK, which is an extremely small town in the southwest  (there is 450ish people in my town, my graduating class was 15 students). I grew up on a farm, although I am the opposite of a country boy! I know everything about farms, just not the lifestyle for me. I love the big cities and all the hustle and bustle that is present. I love traveling and see new places to. I have been to 38 of the 50 states, as well as 6 other countries. The Netherlands was my favorite country.

The reason why I chose OU was because of the sooner family atmosphere it has, as well as my family history with the University. My dad went to law school at OU, and my older brother is currently a mechanical engineering as well. With that, I kind of wanted to keep the sooner tradition going. Being apart of the sooner family as a whole has been amazing. Even as a junior I am constantly meeting new and exciting people every week, and the atmosphere at OU has always allows me to connect in some way to everybody.

The few things I do on campus are: campus tour guide, Big Event Ops Staff, and Greek life. Freshman year, I definitely tried to be involved in a lot of things; however, when I realized what my priorities where in life, these three remained after I cut back on involvement.

The hobbies I enjoyed are pretty broad in category. I enjoy all sports, ranging from Ping-Pong all the way to soccer. I love being outside, whether I am hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, or biking. The last hobby of mine is video games, and I can get down to just about any game (except sport games, would rather just play the sport instead).
